Say it ain't so...

First day of School!

So the night before school my friend sent me this poem. It is a tear jerker for those with kids (if you don't have any, it will be when you do).

We Left you at the Door

We took you down to school today.
You're just beginning now.
Although this year you're five years old,
You seem so young, somehow!
We didn't take you all the way,
For we'd been told before
"Don't go into his room with him,
Just leave him at the door.

Up to this time we've always gone
Together everywhere.
And we have had a lot of fun
While traveling here and there;
But I well knew before it came,
We're parted more and more;
So many times we'll stand outside
And leave you at the door.

You're growing up so very fast
It's hard to keep in step;
The fact of changing years is hard
For parents to accept.
You'll have to walk your path alone
No matter what's in store
We'll bring you up to life's classroom,
Then leave you at the door.
While you were ours these tender years,
We treasure every day
Full knowing that the time would come
When you would go your way.
And though this love will still remain
Within the heart's deep core,
Our eyes will sting to see you go-
And leave us at the door!

Well friends, she left me at the door. My baby (who isn't much of a baby) started kindergarten on Monday. She was a little nervous and "shy" but as always, she walked in with her head up high and dove right in! She didn't even say goodbye to us (that was a little hard for me but I would rather see that then leave her crying) We met the teacher last Friday and she announced to me and Brad that she did NOT want to go anymore! (No thanks to Brad and his continuous taunting about how mean the Principles office was and that if she went there it was T-R-O-U-B-L-E!) I was very proud I didn't cry at all. I thought for sure I would. Granted she was a bit of a pill that morning so it was a little easier. I must say that it is a little lonely around here without her talking to me non stop and asking questions and keeping me company. When she got home I asked her about her day and what she did. The first thing she told me was that some girl told on her and she got in trouble. Ha ha, leave it up to my kid to get into trouble on the first day. The I asked if she was the little girls friend who told on her and she looked me and with a sassy look and firmly said, "I am not her friend, she told me!" A few days prior to going to school I told her to go to school the first day and find someone who didn't have a friend introduce herself and ask if they would be her friend. She tells me ,on the first day of school, "mom this kid asked me to be my friend and I said NO!" I asked her why she would say no to someone who needed a friend and she said, "because he is a boy." I sighed and told her that wasn't very nice and to ask him to be her friend. Last funny story (for now) The next morning she had gotten ready amazingly fast and because she had about 20 min before we hade to leave, I let her watch a show until it was time to go. The time quickly came to go and I turned off the tv (before the show was over) and I told her it was time to go to school and she with a grouchy voice, "I don't want to go to school! How long is this school thing going to last?" I laughed and decided not to tell her that it was going to be at least another 13 years.!

She's so funny. This morning was Molly's first morning that she screamed and cried for a while that she wanted to stay home and skip school. Last night was the latest she's gotten to bed since it started. Hmmm...

What a cute girl! Remember the "boy" story for when she wants to start dating before she is 16... it never worked for me, I always like the boys better than the girls growing up (they had cooler toys)... but I can see how this would be a blessing.s

Haha! It is really hard for kindergartners to get used to school. I continually had my students ask me when it was time to go home, but after about the first month they get the hang of things and end up loving it. :)

Claire went to a farm for preschool and she loved it! It was fun to be there with all her friends but it was SO windy.

Peek-A-Boo

Peek-A-Boo
This is her favorite spot to hide! She loves to play in the hampors. She thought it was really cool to just peek out a little. She is such a sweetie pie!

Look at her smile, she was having a blast. We went to Home Depots Kids Workshop. She and Brad made a flower box. They had a lot of fun (minus the fact that she was little sick) We got in the car and she wouldn't stop talking about it.

This was the finishing project.
